Splinter Cell Remaining Xbox 360 Exclusive For The Time Being

Ubisoft seemingly content to focus on one console this generation.

The Splinter Cell franchise has long been associated with the Xbox, though the original games eventually made their way to the PlayStation 2 and GameCube. This generation though, it appears that the franchise will remain on the Xbox 360 for the time being.

Asked whether Splinter Cell will eventually make its way back to other consoles, Ubisoft Toronto and Montreal CEO Yannis Mallat told Gaming Union, “Until further notice [the franchise is staying on Xbox 360]. However, I’m only the one making the games, you should talk to the people in Paris [for a final answer].”

Microsoft has long been known for their timed exclusives, ensuring that certain titles will automatically be associated with the Xbox 360. It would not be shocking if that turned out to be the case for Splinter Cell: Conviction, but for now, the series is an Xbox 360 exclusive.

It’ll be out February 23.

it would be stupid on ubisoft’s part if they didn’t eventually release it on other consoles since i’m betting that most people played splinter first on the ps2 (icluding me) so the install base would be down by at least 30% and so will their profit
