If you keep up with the podcast, you’ll know that we’ve at least mentioned Modern Warfare 2 for the past month. Our opinions fluctuated; we’ve became lovers of the game to getting sick of the game… well, the players in the game. In all honesty, this seems like a natural reaction. The majority of Call of Duty players were used to the gameplay and tactics used in Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. Infinity Ward completely changed the dynamics and feel in their latest release, Modern Warfare 2.
The main complaint that’s going around is, of course, the campers. The majority of the Call of Duty hardcore fans despise campers. “There were never that many campers in the first Modern Warfare” is what people are shouting about in comments and forum threads. For those of you who agree with that complaint, you might hate me for this article for justifying these “campers.” All I ask is for you, the reader, to hear me out as this is my personal opinion.
Most of those campers that you’ve encountered on November 10 were not campers at all. They were all playing defensively and conservatively. There’s a difference between a player taking cover when traveling through a map and a person who consecutively stays in the same part of the map throughout a match. When dealing with a new game with new maps, perks, and kill streaks you can only be cautious of your every move.
If you’re reading this article, you probably have a copy of the game. So you’ll know the different changes Infinity Ward has implemented in the map design. There is now more vertical gameplay and multiple entrances and pathways to every building. Some players got used to it quick and many had a hard time adjusting to the changes.
I’ll admit, I’m one of those players who had a hard time getting used to the new game. Like many, I worried about my kill/death ratio. Many worried about it for different reasons; some worried about keeping up with their friends, some worried about maintaining their rolls in a clan, etc. I worried about not looking like a horrible player. When you worry about that for long enough, you stop having fun and that’s not the purpose of a video game. I started playing very defensively and conservatively because the maps are very diverse this time around. That just makes you more vulnerable when trying to excel in multiplayer. I stopped taking the game so seriously (I mainly stopped caring about my K/D and other stats) and started going out running and gunning and results improved.
Basically, depending on how used you got to Call of Duty 4 you’ll embrace the new features or struggle to get used to them. It’s not the most balanced game in the world, but it shouldn’t stop you from having fun with it. All-in-all, if you come in just wanting to have fun your kill/death ratio will be alright. If you get too conservative, you’ll have a hard time getting those good stats you desire.
Comments and opinions are welcome, I’d like to hear your opinions.

Agree!!
Great post Paralex
MW2 can be played in so many ways it just depends on how you like the style of playing it in some maps eg- Favela,Sub Base, Skidrow i camp on because I’m simply not good on those maps running out getting shot in the back constantly. It all varies.
im not worried about my k/d
i just hate to be killed every time you respawn when people camp in your spawn area
I don’t play mw2 online because it’s a waste of time. I die in single player so I know I will die in multiplayer
Ps. Sorry guys I’m not trying to be rude but its Friday 18 and I’ve been waiting so, “Where’s my podcast”.
Nice blog… People should just stop complaining about what other people are or aren’t doing and concentrate on themselves and how they can do better, this goes for any game really. Don’t get mad, get glad
cool game cant wait for the next one
